Hi, question for you, we are in the process of renovating our boler, and we have the original manufacturer paper with its serial number and all the specs on it. However it is stuck to the back of the closet door that we would like to upgrade. Any suggestions on how to get it off? It appears to be glued on, but has lifted off a bit

I think any attempt at removing the decal will damage or destroy it. What I have seen a number of people do is cut out the door with the paper on it and then frame the entire thing. Looks great and will last forever.

Hi Ian, just been working on our Boler, removing and servicing the jalousie windows. One of them has a problem with the crank mechanism. Seems the gears are stripped, won’t tighten at the closed position. I’ve taken everything apart except actually drilling the mechanism case open. Don’t see much future in doing this. Any ideas???

      Hi Laurier

It is quite common for the gears to strip or become damaged in the operator.
With your windows apart it is also very easy to replace the operator. The part you are probably looking for is a 1718P or 1718C operator (this is the most common version used on the slant sill windows, if you have flat sill windows then it will be a 747PR), these are inexpensive usually costing less than $15.00 each, catch is this time of year they can be difficult to find. The main supplier brings in their shipment in the spring and currently many of the stores are sold out. I will be selling these next year bit even my distributor is sold out. I would suggest Googling “1718 operator” there is a good chance you will find them, just watch the price.

      Hope this helps

Hello Valerie, your English is much better than my French 🙂
The best information on refinishing the exterior of your Boler is to use marine products and techniques for fibreglass boats.
The cracks in the fibreglass you mention, these are from stress to the shell and you need to find out what caused them or they will continue to appear. The stress could be from heavy snow load but it could also be from a bent or broken frame. Preparation of the fibreglass is most important before painting, for products I like Interlux Marine primer & top coat, here is a great series of videos that may help you http://www.yachtpaint.com/can/diy/ask-the-experts/video-perfection.aspx

Hello, I have a question about the liner in the inside, the “Elephant skin”. Mine is intact and clean its just coming off of the walls. What do you recommend to stick it back to the shell?

Use a high quality Contact Cement to reattach the ensolite to the fibreglass wall.
